DPDP Compliance ConsentKit

Description

🌐 Official Website | πŸ“– Documentation

πŸš€ DPDP Consent Kit helps Indian websites prepare for India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, without writing code.

India’s DPDP Act requires businesses that collect personal data to give people (“data principals”) a clear notice, ask for free, specific and informed consent, and make it as easy to withdraw consent as it was to give it. DPDP Consent Kit adds this consent layer to your WordPress site in minutes.

πŸš€ Why DPDP Consent Kit

β˜‘οΈ Built for India’s DPDP Act: Wording, flows and settings follow DPDP terminology: data fiduciary, data principal, notice, consent, withdrawal.

β˜‘οΈ Clear, standalone notice: Your banner explains what data you collect and why, in plain language, so the notice makes sense on its own.

β˜‘οΈ Easy consent and withdrawal: Visitors can accept, decline or change their choice later, as easily as they first gave it.

β˜‘οΈ No-code setup: Install, activate, answer a few questions, and your banner is live.

β˜‘οΈ Consent records: Each consent decision is stored with a timestamp and notice version, so you can show what a visitor agreed to and when.

β˜‘οΈ Multi-language support: The Act allows notices in English or any of the 22 scheduled languages.

β˜‘οΈ Blocks scripts until consent: Analytics and marketing scripts load only after the visitor agrees.

β˜‘οΈ Customisable design: Match the banner to your brand with colours, position and text.

β˜‘οΈ Lightweight: No heavy libraries, so your site stays fast.

πŸš€ What this plugin does not do

DPDP compliance is bigger than a banner. It also covers security safeguards, breach reporting, data retention, handling of children’s data, and responding to data principals’ requests. This plugin covers the website notice and consent step. It does not provide legal advice and does not guarantee compliance. Please consult a legal or compliance professional for your organisation.

External services

This plugin integrates with the hosted ConsentKit service, operated by iB Softs. The service provides the consent banner and processes visitor consent choices.

ConsentKit hosted JavaScript

When a valid Site Key and valid language configuration are saved, the plugin loads the following external JavaScript file on public-facing pages:

https://app.dpdpconsentkit.in/cdn/v1/kit.js

The plugin configures the script element with the Site Key using the data-site attribute and the selected language codes using the data-languages attribute.

When a visitor’s browser requests the JavaScript file, the ConsentKit server may receive the visitor’s IP address and standard HTTP request information, such as the browser user-agent and referring page, when provided by the browser.

The hosted JavaScript uses the configured Site Key and language settings to initialise the consent banner. The script may make additional requests to the ConsentKit service to display the banner, process visitor choices and manage consent records. The specific information transmitted through
these requests depends on the service’s implementation and configuration.

For details about the personal information processed by the hosted service, please see its Privacy Policy.

FAQ

What is a DPDP consent banner?

A website notice that tells visitors what personal data you collect and why, and asks for their consent as the DPDP Act and Rules 2025 require.

Does my website need one?

If you process personal data of people in India, for example through forms, sign-ups, orders or analytics, you will need a valid way to give notice and collect consent. Requirements depend on your business, so check with your advisor.

Is this a registered Consent Manager?

No. Consent Managers are separate entities registered with the Data Protection Board under Rule 4. This plugin handles consent on your own website.

Is it only for India?

Yes. It is designed for the DPDP Rules 2025, and does not cover GDPR or other laws.

Can visitors withdraw consent?

Yes. A persistent preference link or button lets visitors change or withdraw consent at any time.
